Paratransit

Paratransit

Paratransit services are usually offered for individuals with disabilities that prevent them from riding the fixed-route buses.

In contrast to mass transit, paratransit will pick you up at your doorstep and take you to where you need to go – to the doctor, shopping, or to a friend’s place. To use paratransit systems, you usually have to fillout an application and be certified at a local office. Once you get that done, you’re ready to roll.

Below is the link to each state’s department of transportation website where you can find information on Paratransit services. Once you get to the site for your state, if it has a search box, try searching for “paratransit” or “ADA” or “disabled” or “handicapped.” If you cant find a search box then look for a sitemap and scroll to the relevant section of the website.
